About the presentation …
“What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul, What wondrous love is this, O my soul!” This American folk hymn, first published in 1811, captures in its text the wonder of a soul cleansed by the precious blood of Christ, the Lamb of God. The song’s lyrics express awe at the love of God and are reminiscent of the text of John 3:16: “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Although anonymous, the author of this hymn relates to us the inexpressible wonder of one who has been set free from the curse of sin because of the sacrificial death and glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ who “bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness” (1 Pe 2:24).
