Guest Speaker
Dr. Matt Walker

Pastor Matt Walker was born to parents who worked at BJU. After high school, he joined the marines where he served in the 2nd Supply Battalion of the United States Marine Corps during the first Gulf War and served in Desert Shield/Desert Storm in Saudi Arabia in 1990-1991. In 1995, he was honorably discharged from the Marines with the rank of sergeant. He had planned to pursue a career in politics after his military service. However, during his time in Saudi Arabia he answered God’s call to full time ministry.
After returning to the United States, he graduated from Bob Jones University and married his wife, Becky. They have two adult children, one grandchild and another on the way. He also has completed an MA with MBU and a PhD with Piedmont International University.
In January 2003, he and his family moved to North Carolina and planted College Park Baptist Church in Cary. Along with being a church-planter, Pastor Walker also serves as an adjunct professor for Maranatha Baptist University and Seminary, a vice-president at Arch Ministries and a member of the Board of Trustees at BJU.
His personal goal is to please the Lord in all things, to love his wife and children unconditionally, and be the very best pastor he can be to those whom God has given to him. His preaching over the weekend will be a blessing and encouragement for all who attend.

Golf Tournament

We will have a golf tournament on Friday starting at 11:00 am at THE TAMARACKS golf course in Harrison, Michigan. Four-man teams compete following a Captain’s Choice format. The golf tourney is being run in conjunction with the retreat, but it is not a required event.
The cost per golfer for the tournament is $40 and all golfers must stay for the entire retreat and attend the preaching services in order to receive any prizes won in the tournament.
Golfers must register by August 31 to reserve a spot in the tournament.
Golfers may golf additional holes before or after the tournament (up until the start of the retreat) for only $5 (sign up for Unlimited Golf on registration form).
